Alice in Wonderland: An Architectural Vision

A luxurious roof top achievement in SoHo

SoHoliday 2016

This charming pergola was built by Sollecito Custom Homes for the roof top of a luxury apartment in SoHo.

The Mad Hatter roof top was designed by Joyce D. Silverman. She drew inspiration for the project from Alice in Wonderland and brought the whimsical design to reality with a practical result.

The roof top design that Sollecito participated in was part of the Holiday House NYC event in December 2016. The founder, Iris Dankner, looks to celebrate the best in interior design and holiday entertaining while supporting the fight against breast cancer.

The unique rooftop design was featured in Architectural Digest. The home was featured in “The House & Design Show.”

The Concept:

“I looked to Alice in Wonderland for inspiration in this Mad Hatter rooftop, to create a whimsical and mysterious tea party. Of course the theme had to work functionally,” said Joyce D. Silverman.
The design included adding specific features:

  • Height
  • Privacy panels
  • Open air with a touch of luxurious comfort
  • A view from the top
